The Australasian Emissions Reduction (AER) Summit is Australia's premier business and climate event, the country's leading forum for carbon markets, climate investment and the net zero transition.
The AER Summit is hosted by the Carbon Market Institute, an independent, not-for-profit, member-based organisation accelerating the transition to net zero emissions.
The 2026 AER Summit will be presented as a two-day conference and gala dinner at Adelaide Convention Centre on 20-21 October 2026.
About the AER Summit
For more than a decade, CMI's Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit has been the pivotal place for leaders from government, business and the community to share insights, announce policy and debate the future of Australia's climate and carbon market agenda.
Now in its 13th year, the AER Summit is Australia's premier business and climate event, combining a world-class conference with a dynamic exhibition and an engaging program of side events. Over two days in Adelaide, more than 600 delegates will gather across keynote sessions, plenary panels, interactive workshops and high-level networking, bringing together the full value chain from heavy emitters and project developers to investors, advisers, policymakers and First Nations leaders.
The 2026 Summit arrives at a defining moment for the market. With the Safeguard Mechanism review underway, mandatory climate disclosures reshaping corporate strategy, and Australia preparing to lead COP31 negotiations alongside Pacific partners, the program will focus on the policy, investment and delivery questions that matter most: from safeguard evolution and ACCU integrity to nature repair, climate finance and the road to Türkiye.
Mt Sandy Immersion Tour
Get out of the conference room and onto the ground with our post-Summit site visit to Mt Sandy, delivered in partnership with South Pole and Cassinia.
Where the Murray River meets the sea, Mt Sandy is a 200 hectare conservation reserve managed in partnership with the Ngarrindjeri Traditional Custodians and permanently protected under a South Australian Heritage Agreement. Adjoining the Coorong wetlands, it is a sanctuary in a largely cleared landscape: 249 native plant species, 85 native bird species including nesting Wedge-tailed Eagles, and the world's largest known private land population of the endangered Metallic Sun-orchid.
Mt Sandy is also the anchor project for South Pole's EcoAustralia program, the first voluntary biodiversity unit in Australia, which has since sold over 350,000 units and protected more than 500 hectares.
Site Visit Itinerary:
Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony
Ngarrindjeri Traditional Owners Michael and Rita Lindsay will open the day on Country, followed by morning tea and an introduction from the South Pole and Cassinia teams.
Monitoring Site Visit
Walk the site with the project team to see how a biodiversity project is managed and measured on the ground, with Rita Lindsay speaking to the significance of local plant species for Ngarrindjeri people.
On site, you will:
- see the management activities that keep the reserve healthy
- understand how ecological condition is monitored and verified
- take part in a guided species identification and bird watching activity
- hear firsthand what it takes to deliver credible biodiversity outcomes
Walk up Mt Sandy with Lunch at the Summit
A guided walk to the top with views across the Coorong, followed by lunch at the summit and reflections back at the shed before departure.
The walk involves 40 metres of elevation over roughly two hours including lunch. It is not strenuous but is not suitable for delegates with mobility restrictions.
Tickets are $215 + gst per person, includes return transport from Adelaide.
